Primary Care Coalition Meets At OU-HCOM Dublin

(February 9, 2017) The Ohio Coalition of Primary Care Physicians met February 9, at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) Dublin campus to discuss legislation and issues expected to surface during the new session of the Ohio General Assembly.

Anticipated legislation includes new or reintroduced bills on step therapy, treatment of impaired physicians, scope of practice issues, tort reform, health care price transparency, and Gov. John Kasich’s biennial budget. Kenneth H. Johnson, DO, William J. Burke, DO,Isaac J. Kirstein, DO, and Robert A. Cain, DO, gave an overview of new programs underway at OU-HCOM’s three campuses. OU-HCOM is recognized by the Coalition for turning out the highest number of graduates who enter primary care residency programs and remain in Ohio to practice.

OOA/Ohio ACCOFP representatives included OOA Health Policy Chair Peter A. Bell, DO, Ohio ACOFP President-Elect Roberta J. Guibord, DO, and OOA President Geraldine N. Urse, DO, who presided over the meeting.
