House Committee Pares CARE Act

The Ohio House of Representatives Healthcare Access & Affordability Committee re-wrote and scaled down HB 456 (Ohio CARE), comprehensive legislation originally designed to increase health insurance coverage. The Committee made the changes this week, May 15, 2008.

Committee Chair Jim Raussen (R-Springdale), who is also the sponsor of the bill, said several provisions contained in the new substitute bill overlap a list of ten draft recommendations under consideration by the Healthcare Coverage Initiative Group, a panel formed by Gov. Ted Strickland to suggest ways to expand coverage of the uninsured.
