September is Fall Prevention Month

Falls are the leading cause of injury-related emergency department visits, hospitalizations and deaths for Ohioans age 65 and older. But falls are not a normal part of aging, and most falls can be prevented.

To assist health care providers and patients with educational materials and assessment tool kits, the Ohio Department of Again has established a web site, known as STEADY U.  The web site is part of  a comprehensive falls prevention initiative led by Governor John Kasich and supported by Ohio government and state business partners to bring falls prevention to the forefront of planning for individuals, families, health care providers, business and community leaders throughout Ohio.
