Students: Apply for Advocacy Honor Society
Application Deadline is Nov. 1, 2026
Advocacy is one of the most powerful ways we can shape the future of our profession and improve the care we provide our patients. By becoming a member of Omega Beta Iota (OBI), you have an opportunity to join a growing national network of osteopathic medical students committed to strengthening the voice of the osteopathic profession and making a lasting impact.
OBI is the national osteopathic political action and advocacy honor society. The Spring 2027 application cycle is now open, and applications will be accepted through Sunday, Nov. 1.
Selected applicants will have the opportunity to participate in an optional in-person induction ceremony at DO Day on the Hill in Washington, D.C., in April 2027. Applicants are also strongly encouraged to register for DO Day 2027. Student registration is limited.
Whether you have advocated on Capitol Hill, served in student leadership, organized grassroots campaigns, worked on health policy initiatives, or discovered a passion for advancing osteopathic medicine beyond the classroom, OBI offers an opportunity to have your work recognized while continuing to grow as a physician advocate.
As an OBI member, you will receive:
- An official OBI membership certificate and lapel pin.
- Formal recognition at the AOA House of Delegates.
- Opportunities to participate in advocacy and leadership initiatives.
- Access to advocacy training, networking opportunities, and exclusive member experiences.
- Opportunities to further develop your advocacy skills through programs such as the Osteopathic Scholar Advocacy Certificate.
